Psychotic Informer - 11/13/11

Guess who’s back? It’s Alec, your friendly neighborhood Psychotic Gaming reporter guy! Now with significantly less 3DS news.
1.  Starting off with something exciting, do we have the possible return of God of War? Yes, though the developers claimed the series was only going to be a trilogy, they apparently decided to screw that and milk more money out of their series. And I don’t blame them, God of War is freakin’ amazing. A few weeks back a job opening hinted towards the game, but no one knew anything. Now a new hint has been delivered by our good friends in New Zealand. They put the game up for pre-order on one of their retailing websites, pricing it was...$114? Huhwhat? Probably just a typo or something. Why would the game be $114? But oh well. The website also states that the speculated release date is Sept. 28th, 2012. So get your calendars ready! Just don’t write anything in them yet, because I’m not sure this information is correct. But stay tuned, there’s bound to be more news about this in the coming weeks! (For more information, read the full article)

2. AND THEN ALEC LIED. Because, guess what? MORE FREAKIN’ 3DS NEWS! Now, if you don’t have a 3DS by now, you have no reason not to get one with this next piece of information. The most beautiful 3DS ever revealed to this history of mankind ever is being released in America. The Zelda 3D Bundle. Accompanying the Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D game, we have the best 3DS in the history of awesomeness. I mean, just look at is. STARE AT ITS EXCELLENCE. If you’re not intimidated, I feel bad for you. It’s obviously more beautiful than you.

And no, I’m not just a Zelda fanboy. Why would you think that?

But anyway, the 3DS was announced a few weeks back for Europe. It was just announced today for America. It is priced for $200, or $99 if you trade in a DSiXL for it. And it’s going to rock. No release date on it yet, though. (For more information, read the full article)

3. Da hell. A Lego movie. PICTURE IT. A movie made out of Legos. Why? Why not, Hollywood does whatever it feels like doing. Based off the success of the Lego Video Games, they announced a Lego Movie. Nothing is known about it yet, except 80% of it will be animated but 20% will be live action. Huh. More details are expected to be announced next week. (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 8/23/11

 1. You know what’s always fun? Official modular game controllers. It’s amazing to have full customizable control over your controller for maximum comfort to get that edge that you can’t get with just a regular controller. And today, a new Xbox 360 customizable controller has been announced by Mad Catz. It gives you amazing customizability as well as weight control. Called the MLG Pro-Circuit Controller, it will be usable on the 360 as well as the PS3, but it mostly resembles an Xbox controller so let’s just call it that for the sake of writing. The controller comes with four joysticks, two PS3 and two 360 in case for some reason you like both on the same controller, and two d-pads, a PS3 and a 360. There’s also a weight pack in the center where you can add up to 70 grams of weight if you’re into that kind of thing. What do you think? Would you buy this Mad Catz controller? (For more information, read the full article

2. Stop for a moment. Think with me. Could you imagine...a 3DS without the 3D? Yes, a console called the S. No, not really, but it sounds like something Nintendo would do. I’ll get back to that in a second. Usually around this time Nintendo has their annual press conference in Tokyo before their big release season, and this year is no different. But this year, according to various sources, it’s just going to be a 3DS conference. People are speculating that they’ll be announcing a bunch of new games and a new 3DS model. The ‘new model’ is rumored to take out the emphasis on the 3D, or even take the 3D completely out of the system. It would also have a 2nd analog pad. If this is true, I will rage so freakin’ hard. If it’s true then basically Nintendo is screwing early adopters of the 3DS so hard with a new model. But this is just my opinion. What do you think? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 8/11/11

 1. Two 3DS stories are going to be condensed into one clump! First off, getting sick of your black or blue 3DS? Good news, everyone! A new color of 3DS has been announced! Flame Red will be the new design color for the 3DS. As you can see in the picture above, it looks pretty cool. It will be $170 and will hit the shelves September 9th, the same day as Star Fox 64. There are no plans for a Star Fox 64 package, but oh well. The other news is that Nintendo has said that there won’t be a 3DS Lite for a many number of years, if at all, probably because of the crappy sales so far, but they didn’t give a real reason why. So, Flame Red 3DS (It totally would’ve been Fire Red if not for Pokémon) and no 3DS Lite. What do you think? What other 3DS colors should they release? Would you want a 3DS Lite? (For more information, read the full articles here and here)

2. Investors have told Nintendo that they shouldn’t focus so much on their own consoles and games for their consoles but instead focus on making games for the iOS platform. They are saying they should be porting their existing content and making new games for iPhone and Android shops. Other companies already do this, like with Lego Harry Potter and Sonic 4 Episode 1. Nintendo has responded and said they will never make or port content to consoles that they didn’t create themselves. What do you think? Should Nintendo make games for iOS? (For more information, read the full article)

 3. Does anybody in America want Xenoblade for the Wii? Devastated by the fact it has been said many times that it won’t be released here? Well, after months of protest from gamers, Reggie Fils-Amie (the president of Nintendo) has said that there might be a chance the game will be released here, but only if the sales are extremely good in Europe. So the pressure is on those Europeans to make the game extremely successful so we Americans get it. I really hope the game gets released here because I really want it. What do you think? Will this game ever be imported here? (For more information, read the full article)

4. For people who own 3DSes, this is just a reminder to go onto the eShop today to register yourself for the Ambassador program and get the 20 free games later this year. So go do that. Or go to Wal-Mart, buy a 3DS, then do it. Just remember to do it by tonight or you won’t get your 20 free games!

Psychotic Informer - 8/9/11

 1. Release dates, ahoy! Well, not dates, but release periods. The highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is coming out ‘as soon as possible in 2012.’ Also in that time frame will be Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, so look forward to that! But now, some KH3D news. The game is supposed to have “the flashiest motion in the series”, fully utilizing the 3DS engine and the graphics. They’re worried it might not sell well because it might be hard for new people to get into it, because the first game came out almost 10 years ago. They’re planning to stop this problem in whatever they make for their 10th anniversary. They said they’ll be making an “HD Tactical test”, which could maybe an HD remake of KH1 and 2. We’ll find out soon! What do you think? (For more information, read the full article)

2. Talk about a good way to earn money! Wal-Mart put their 3DSes on sale to $170 three days before everyone else. What does this mean? People can buy the 3DS for cheap AND still get the 20 free games. Talk about a rip-off for the people who bought it at full price. But it was a pretty smart move for Wal-Mart, because everybody is going to buy 3DSes there instead of other retailers for obvious reasons, thus giving Wal-Mart a lot more sales. Smart move, Wal-Mart. Just don’t rip pre-existing 3DS owners off anymore, thanks. (For more information, read the full article)

3. Now, some of you may not know this, for reasons I’ll explain in the next few sentences, but last week was Metroid’s 25th anniversary. What has Nintendo got planned for us? A new Metroid game? How about a 3D remake of the original Metroid? ...At least porting the Game Boy version to the 3DS eShop? ...Nothing? Really. Nothing was planned by Nintendo for Metroid’s 25th Anniversary. What losers. But really, because of this, a group released their CD of Metroid music remixes. The best part? The download is absolutely FREE! There’s even a perfectly legal torrent of it, and that never happens in this day and age. But for you people without computers (how you are reading this I have no idea) or just like collector’s items, you can get the physical copy that comes with several posters for only $12! I’m listening to the album as I write this, and it’s pretty legit. So go download it here. NOW.

Psychotic Informer - 8/2/11

1. Remember last week when I said that Namco-Bandai’s new game ‘Pac-Man And Galaga Dimensions’ had save data that wasn’t erasable? Apparently they were being dumb that day, because they confirmed it there. But now it turns out you actually can! "There has been a miscommunication at our level. Thanks for understanding," said the company’s publisher. The way to remove the save data is to simply press all the face buttons and the triggers (XYBALR). Sounds simple enough. So how come everyone thought it was impossible? Because apparently everyone is out to destroy the 3DS for who knows what reason, so everyone thinks the worst possible thing. What do you think? Why did everyone think it was impossible to remove the save data? (For more information, read the full article)

2. Some sad news today. Chris Staniforth, a lovely 20-year-old chap from the good ol’ country of England died back in May. It’s been announced that he died of blood clots from playing too many video games. Apparently, he had 12 hour gaming sessions everyday and his blood started to clot. This type of blood clot usually occurs when you’re on long flights or car rides, but it happened to him because he played games for 12 hours. Usually when you play games for that long of time you get up to get food and go to the bathroom, so it shouldn’t happen. Chris, however, had suffered from former blood problems, so he clotted easily. What do you think? If the guy had former blood problems, do you think he should’ve been sitting down for 12 hours a day? (For more information, read the full article)

3. Some more sad news concerning Mega Man Legends 3. Their spokesman said that even with all the fan support they still have no plans to bring back MML3. This really makes me angry. The reason they closed the freakin’ project in the first place is because of lack of fan support, now they have tons and they’re not reopening it. That’s just dumb. They said they were aware of the 100,000 Strong petition I posted last week, but they didn’t even care. What is wrong with them? What do you think? Is this seriously dumb of them, to deny thousands of their fans a game they want? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 8/1/11

 1. First up today is a way to earn money for playing games! Oh yeah, I got your attention now. Though it’s not about being a partner on a video streaming site or anything, this is a way to earn money just by playing Diablo III. Diablo III will include an auction house feature, where you can auction off rare in-game items for real money! So basically you win a dungeon or kill a rare beast and get a super rare item, which you then put up for auction for other people to buy with real money! There is a transaction fee, though, so you should make sure the item you will be putting up isn’t worth less than the transaction fee. But for people who don’t like getting money (I don’t know who that would be, but just in case) there’s also a separate auction house for selling items for game currency. What do you think about this feature? Would you do this to make money? (For more information, read the full article

2. Coming soon to the 3DS (yes, yes, I know, more 3DS news, sue me) and Wii U (when it comes out) is going to be paid downloadable content (DLC)! Though it was used for Mega Man 9, 10, and some Final Fantasy games, it will actually play a bigger role for 3DS and Wii U. Nintendo said that they won’t be having DLC for their games, but some third-party games for the 3DS and Wii U will include it. Basically it goes like this: Sony and Microsoft are obsessed with money so they release half-complete games for full price then make you pay even more money for the other portion of the game. Nintendo is so cool that they complete games 100% before sending them out. What do you think? Will 3DS and Wii U DLC be a cool feature or just another way to blow money? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/29/11

 1. First up today is an insane eBay bid! Do you like Tetris? How much do you like Tetris? Enough to spend 1 million dollars on a copy? Well, if for some reason you do, now’s your chance! A copy of the original version of Tetris for the Sega Genesis is expensive on its own, but guess what? This copy is signed! According to the creator of the auction, the lot has the ONLY signed copy in the world of the original version! The 1 million dollar price tag is only an asking price, though he’s willing to go lower than that. If for some odd reason you have a million dollars and you feel like blowing it on a game (or just want to check it out), place your bid here. What do you think? If you had the money, would you even consider buying this? Do you think it is a good deal?

2. Because there is NEVER enough 3DS news, here’s some more 3DS news! Yesterday I said that 10 select NES games will be coming to the 3DS Virtual Console and will be available for free for the people who bought the 3DS at full price. You may have wondered (but probably not), what about the games that have a multiplayer function? Take Super Mario Bros. as an example. You can’t really do two player with a single 3DS unless you just pass off the 3DS when it’s another person’s turn, but you definitely could not do simultaneous multiplayer. Well, Nintendo has thought of this! The classic NES games will actually be upgraded with multiplayer across two 3DS’s. It hasn’t been announced whether it will be local or online, but knowing Nintendo and their knack for making things less convenient then they should be, it’s probably going to be local. What do you think? Will this upgrade be any good, or will it be ruined by local connectivity? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/28/11

1. There is a lot of breaking Nintendo news today, so stay tuned! First up, we have something pretty big. The 3DS is being marked down by 32%, specifically $80 from its original price of $250, now $170. Nintendo released no information as to why the price drop occurred, but we can assume that it was because 3DS sales were so slow. The new pricing will be in stores on August 12th. But don’t feel bad, people who already bought the 3DS for $250 (including me)! For being awesome and buying it for full price, you’re going to get 20 3DS eShop games! The games will include 10 NES titles such as The Legend of Zelda, Bubble Bobble and Super Mario Bros, and 10 Game Boy Advance titles such as Metroid Fusion, Mario Advance 3, and WarioWare! I really hope Pokémon Emerald or any GBA Pokémon game will be included in the package.

In the long run Nintendo is probably overcompensating, because each game would probably be worth at least $4 a piece, probably more! I’ve also heard complaints about this deal, though. For example, some people don’t want the 20 free games and they just want a check for $80. I think this was a very smart move on Nintendo’s part, because the Playstation Vita is priced for $250, and with the 3DS significantly less than the Vita I think it will sell much better than it. What do you think? Is 20 games a good deal for compensation? Do you think it was a good move for Nintendo to drop their price? (For more information, read the full article)

2. More Nintendo news coming your way today! Two highly anticipated games have finally been given official titles! Super Mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3DS have been given (slightly lackluster) titles! Super Mario 3DS will simply be called Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 3D will simply be called Mario Kart 7. I think these titles are pretty dumb, in my opinion. Nintendo has been coming up with pretty lame titles lately. Kirby Returns to Dreamland, and now these. Mario Kart 7? Really? I could think of a better name anytime! What about something less lame like maybe ‘Mario Kart 3D’ or something. It at least has some class to it...Super Mario 3D Land is an alright title, but it makes it sound like it’s a sequel to Super Mario Land for the Game Boy. What do you think? Are these titles lame, amazing or somewhere in between? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/22/11

 1. Another 3D classic has finally arrived on the 3DS eShop! 3D Classics: Xevious is the new addition to the series of 3D remakes of other games (the first being Excitebike). A port of the 1982 classic arcade game Xevious, the game is fully 3D and it looks very cool. Obviously in the above image you cannot see the 3D, so if you want to see it you just have to go to the eShop on your 3DS and view the sample video. The game looks really cool, and it’s only $6, so you should buy it! Also coming out today is the new Nintendo Video where you can watch free 3D videos, so that will be pretty sweet. Go pick these new apps up today!

2. Do you live in the Los Angeles area and love Zelda? This next story is for you! The concert tickets for The Legend of Zelda Symphony Concert are available for the first concert on August 1st. The actual concert date will be on October 21st, with the full concert tour coming in 2012. "It's an event that fans and music aficionados won't want to miss." said the producer.  If this concert would happen to come anywhere near me, I would see it in a heartbeat. The tickets are pretty pricey, though. $30 for the arena seats, $150 for the front row. What do you think? Would you see this concert? Or is it too expensive for you? (For more information, read the full article)

3. When you think of Mortal Kombat, what do you think of? Maybe Raiden, Johnny Cage, or Sub-Zero? What about Freddy Krueger? Yes, you read that correctly. Freddy Krueger will be added to Mortal Kombat 9 via DLC. This is kind of weird, but I think it will be interesting. But now that we’re letting movie villains into the brawl, what about Jason? Maybe Dracula? Or how about Mechagodzilla? (For more information and a video, read the full article)

4. This isn’t much of a story as it is a favor to me. The other day I was talking about how Capcom canceled Mega Man Legends 3 and I was severely disappointed. Though this isn’t much, and it might not work, would you people with Facebook accounts please just take 5 seconds out of your day and click the ‘Like’ button on this page? The page aims to get 100,000 likes as a petition to bring back MML3. Please share the link with all of your friends! As of writing, the page has over 17,000 likes! So all you readers should go help out a good cause.

Psychotic Informer - 7/15/11

1.  After a much needed rest from yesterday, Psychotic Informer is back with more gaming news you need to know! Do you like watching movies? Many of us do. Do you like watching movies on 3.5 x 3 inch screens? What do you mean you don’t? Either way, Netflix for the 3DS has now been released! You can watch all your favorite movies and shows from Netflix on the 3.5 x 3 inch screen. You need wi-fi to use it, too. I think this is pretty dumb. If you’re in a wi-fi zone, why not just use your laptop to watch your shows? Even if you don’t have a laptop, why would you want to watch movies on your 3DS while at Starbucks? The worst part is that there won’t even be any 3D movies specially made for it! It just sounds like a dumb idea to me. In it’s defense, though, the video quality is beautiful and it’s easy to use. But either way, the app is free (though you still need a Netflix subscription), so why not? What do you think about Netflix on 3DS? (For more information, read the full article)

2.  In other movie news (I swear this is still a video game article, just bear with me), The new PS3 model will not have the option to use component HD cables for Blu-ray video! You will be forced to use an HDMI cable, however, unlike the removal of PS2 backwards compatibility, this removal wasn’t entirely their fault. The new CECH-3000 model PS3 will not be able to stream the high quality video without the component wires because of a new rule that was implemented by Sony themselves. The new rule is that you have to use HDMI for Blu-ray so people cannot record the video. So basically, it’s for copyright purposes. Will this new rule effect you if you plan to get the new PS3 model? (For more information, read the full article)

3. Do you like Mario, Zelda, or any other game where you play as the hero trying to save your loved one? Do you ever wonder who hires the hero to save the day? All your answers and more will be answered in the new game called Brave Company! This simulation game allows you to be the management leader in a company that hires heroes to go and save the world. Because why be the hero when you can be the hero that hires the hero? This game is being released by Namco-Bandai on October 27th in Japan for 3DS. No word yet on American release, but this game sounds cool. I’m a sucker for simulation games. What do you think about this concept? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/7/11

1.     1.  First up for the news today, the Video Game Bandit! There is a Floridian woman going around and robbing various Gamestop stores around the state! She is armed and is not afraid of firing, as she has already fired her gun in a previous robbery. Luckily no people were hurt during the robberies. What is really weird about this story is that she hasn’t been taking any video games! I mean, if I was robbing a video game store (which I wouldn’t, I assure you), I would definitely take all the games I could take! But instead the woman just took the cash register money. So anybody who works in a Florida Gamestop, watch out! You could be next! (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/reoNO3)

2.
            2.  In recent days, Valve has been known for releasing games early for doing various tasks (Portal 2, anyone?), and they don't plan on stopping! Though not on as large of a scale, to unlock the new Left 4 Dead 2 Campaign “Dead Air” early, 20,000 people are set to complete the new Left 4 Dead 2 achievement ‘Stream Crosser’ by completing the new map “Cold Stream.”. But you only have until July 10th to unlock the achievement for the campaign, so go kick some zombie butt and get that DLC!

3.      3. Tomita Technologies is suing Nintendo, claiming that Nintendo is violating one of their patents. They claim that they invented the technology for the 3DS years before Nintendo did. “The '664 patent asserted in this action covers 3-D technology invented and developed by Mr. Tomita,” says the lawsuit. This lawsuit is not the first of its kind, though, and nothing is expected to come of it. (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/ouP2Cz)

T    4. Today’s Steam Summer Deal of the Day Sales include: Audiosurf at 85% off for only $1.50! Be sure to pick up this game, as it is extremely fun if you’re a music fan! Other deals include Dead Rising 2 at 50% off for only $20, and Command & Conquer 4 at 80% off for only $4!
