Psychotic Informer - 7/17/11

 1. Is your internet so slow that you cannot download Steam games at a reasonable rate? Well, with a new Steam update, you can! The new Steam update will change the way files are transferred, now using an HTTP delivery system. You don’t have to know what that means, but it’s better than what is currently offered now. Also in the update will include a change to in-game updates. Before, Steam replaced most of the content files when it updated the game, but now they have found a way to only change the files they need to change, removing all the extra time it would take to replace an entire directory of files. I, for one am happy about this, because I like to play my games when I want to play my games, not clicking play then have to wait a minute to play while it updates. What do you think about this change? (For more information, read the full article)

2.  Batman fans, rejoice! With Batman: Arkham City releasing in October of this year, the Collector’s Edition news has come out in full detail. Priced at $99 (the Arkham Asylum CE was only $79), the pack will include a ‘premium statue’, an art book, animated material and you get to play the DLC early! How does this sound for a collector’s edition? Would you buy this collector’s edition for the $40 more it costs compared to the standalone game? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

3. Since I mention Theatrhythm Final Fantasy every other article it seems, it’s only fitting to tell more details that were just released about the game. The game will feature over 50 songs, including three from every Final Fantasy game from I-XIII. We loosely know about the story, now, though. It says that the force of rhythm is in trouble and only past members of Final Fantasy games can put it back in order. That’s all we know so far, but the story sounds kind of ridiculous from what we know now. What do you think about these new details? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/10/11

  1. There is literally no interesting news today, so this is going to be a short one followed by a paragraph of my opinion. But: Today’s Steam Summer Deal of the Day Sales include: Just Cause 2 at 75% off for $5, Borderlands at 75% off for $7.50, Grand Theft Auto 4 and all the DLCs at 75% off for $10. I would recommend checking out all these deals and more! If you have any leftover Steam money, get something today! There are many one dollar games in case you have any leftover change, too! Go out and spend your money! Empty your wallets! You know you want to.
For my special post because there is nothing for me to talk about and I need to artificially lengthen my post, I would like to discuss Bill S. 978. If you don’t know what this bill is, if passed it will make game streaming and game videos illegal (for more information about the Bill, check out this article: http://bit.ly/nQCHLA). If that bill was passed it would mean no more Psychotic Gaming, no more Twitch TV (JTV would still be around) and basically the end of Youtube and every streaming site. Everybody would go insane. If any members of the supreme court have children who like video games or a heart of any kind they wouldn’t pass this bill. It’s just ridiculous. The entire internet would just be dumb without video games on it. But that’s my opinion on the whole topic; it’s stupid and unnecessary. I hope nobody minds that I went out of character for this little speech, I just thought it was necessary and I didn’t have anything else to write about, so why not. Post your opinions on Bill s. 978 in the comments!

(I was late by 12 hours, sorry. My computer just wouldn't upload it. There's still going to be another today.)

Psychotic Informer - 7/8/11

  1. First up for the news today, what do you think of when you think of movies based off video games? Maybe Resident Evil or Silent Hill? Well, how about Space Invaders? Recently announced, the movie will be based off the arcade game created in 1978. There is not much known about the film except that it will have invaders from space, presumably. (For more information, read the full article: http://nyti.ms/rsPfks)
  1. LIMBO, the award winning horror/platformer indie game for XBLA has been announced that it is coming to PSN. It will make it’s debut on July 19th, along with ‘a little extra secret’, claims Sony’s blog. Pick this game up on the 19th if you haven’t played it before, it’s completely worth it! (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/qw0GgA)
  1. Also coming to the Playstation Network is Konami’s XBLA title Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. In addition to the 6 person co-op online mode, they are adding a 4 person co-op local mode. Also with the PSN version you get a new map pack, so go check this version out when it releases this summer! (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/mQTuZw)

  1. A little known fact: there are many color blind gamers. An estimated 9% to 12% of all males cannot see colors, and it severely impacts their gaming ability. This is why in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there will be a Colorblind option! This isn’t expected to change the gameplay; just the palette, making it easier for colorblind people to experience and enjoy it just the same. (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/q0iSPD)
  1. Today’s Steam Summer Deal of the Day Sales include: Mafia II at 75% off for $7.50, Amnesia the Dark Descent at 75% off for $5 (which is a great deal if you’re up for a really scary game!), and Universe Sandbox at 50% off for $5, which I also highly recommend. Go out and take advantage of these deals before it’s too late!

Psychotic Informer - 7/7/11

1.     1.  First up for the news today, the Video Game Bandit! There is a Floridian woman going around and robbing various Gamestop stores around the state! She is armed and is not afraid of firing, as she has already fired her gun in a previous robbery. Luckily no people were hurt during the robberies. What is really weird about this story is that she hasn’t been taking any video games! I mean, if I was robbing a video game store (which I wouldn’t, I assure you), I would definitely take all the games I could take! But instead the woman just took the cash register money. So anybody who works in a Florida Gamestop, watch out! You could be next! (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/reoNO3)

2.
            2.  In recent days, Valve has been known for releasing games early for doing various tasks (Portal 2, anyone?), and they don't plan on stopping! Though not on as large of a scale, to unlock the new Left 4 Dead 2 Campaign “Dead Air” early, 20,000 people are set to complete the new Left 4 Dead 2 achievement ‘Stream Crosser’ by completing the new map “Cold Stream.”. But you only have until July 10th to unlock the achievement for the campaign, so go kick some zombie butt and get that DLC!

3.      3. Tomita Technologies is suing Nintendo, claiming that Nintendo is violating one of their patents. They claim that they invented the technology for the 3DS years before Nintendo did. “The '664 patent asserted in this action covers 3-D technology invented and developed by Mr. Tomita,” says the lawsuit. This lawsuit is not the first of its kind, though, and nothing is expected to come of it. (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/ouP2Cz)

T    4. Today’s Steam Summer Deal of the Day Sales include: Audiosurf at 85% off for only $1.50! Be sure to pick up this game, as it is extremely fun if you’re a music fan! Other deals include Dead Rising 2 at 50% off for only $20, and Command & Conquer 4 at 80% off for only $4!

Psychotic Informer - 7/6/11

This is a new series I call Psychotic Informer in which I, alecsteven6, will tell you all about what is happening in the video game world! I will be posting a new article daily. I hope you enjoy!

  1.  Square Enix has filed a lawsuit towards several Italian individuals for leaking a preview build of their next game ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ to the public via torrent. They have issued a subpoena towards the video game company Valve, the creators of Steam, where the preview build was sent out to journalists for them to write a preview of the game in their articles. The ID code of the Italian journalist’s computer it was sent to was not the same as that of the Italians who created the torrent and leaked the game. Valve is withholding information about the leakers of the game. (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/pRXT4g)

2.      2. In Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, you cannot delete your save file. This has sent the internet into an uproar. The internet has been claiming that Capcom is trying to prevent the selling of used copies. Luckily, this has been changed! …For a price. A new device called the NDS Adaptor Plus is meant to backup DS save files to the PC, but they claim that it can also be used to wipe the save file from your RE game! The bad thing? The NDS Adaptor Plus costs $30! Would you pay $30 plus the price for the used game just to play a brand new file? Post your opinions in the comments! (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/oKLkBx)

3.     3.  A rhythm-based Final Fantasy game? What? That’s right! Not much is known about this 3DS game yet, but it will definitely be a rhythm game that is in the style of Final Fantasy. I honestly don’t know how this game will work, but I’ll update you about it as news comes along. (For more information, read the full article: http://bit.ly/nhq0TY)

4.     4. Today’s Steam Summer Daily Deals include: Grand Theft Auto IV & Episodes From Liberty City at 75% off for only $10, Killing Floor at 75% for $5, and Batman Arkham Asylum at 75% off for $7.50. Be sure to check out these great deals!
