VGM of the Day: Now Taking Requests!

In light of both the idea being thrust upon me by several people, and a certain comment I've received word of by a fellow blogger, I am now taking requests for my VGM of the Day articles to both spice things up and give myself a broader range of material to work with.

Got a song you want others to hear? Wanna know what I think about a particular track? You can drop your requests at vgmoftheday@yahoo.com, but please try to have either an MP3 or a Youtube link to the track in question, and I may critique it in my next post!

Thank you for your time.

Psychotic Informer - 7/29/11

 1. First up today is an insane eBay bid! Do you like Tetris? How much do you like Tetris? Enough to spend 1 million dollars on a copy? Well, if for some reason you do, now’s your chance! A copy of the original version of Tetris for the Sega Genesis is expensive on its own, but guess what? This copy is signed! According to the creator of the auction, the lot has the ONLY signed copy in the world of the original version! The 1 million dollar price tag is only an asking price, though he’s willing to go lower than that. If for some odd reason you have a million dollars and you feel like blowing it on a game (or just want to check it out), place your bid here. What do you think? If you had the money, would you even consider buying this? Do you think it is a good deal?

2. Because there is NEVER enough 3DS news, here’s some more 3DS news! Yesterday I said that 10 select NES games will be coming to the 3DS Virtual Console and will be available for free for the people who bought the 3DS at full price. You may have wondered (but probably not), what about the games that have a multiplayer function? Take Super Mario Bros. as an example. You can’t really do two player with a single 3DS unless you just pass off the 3DS when it’s another person’s turn, but you definitely could not do simultaneous multiplayer. Well, Nintendo has thought of this! The classic NES games will actually be upgraded with multiplayer across two 3DS’s. It hasn’t been announced whether it will be local or online, but knowing Nintendo and their knack for making things less convenient then they should be, it’s probably going to be local. What do you think? Will this upgrade be any good, or will it be ruined by local connectivity? (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/28/11

1. There is a lot of breaking Nintendo news today, so stay tuned! First up, we have something pretty big. The 3DS is being marked down by 32%, specifically $80 from its original price of $250, now $170. Nintendo released no information as to why the price drop occurred, but we can assume that it was because 3DS sales were so slow. The new pricing will be in stores on August 12th. But don’t feel bad, people who already bought the 3DS for $250 (including me)! For being awesome and buying it for full price, you’re going to get 20 3DS eShop games! The games will include 10 NES titles such as The Legend of Zelda, Bubble Bobble and Super Mario Bros, and 10 Game Boy Advance titles such as Metroid Fusion, Mario Advance 3, and WarioWare! I really hope Pokémon Emerald or any GBA Pokémon game will be included in the package.

In the long run Nintendo is probably overcompensating, because each game would probably be worth at least $4 a piece, probably more! I’ve also heard complaints about this deal, though. For example, some people don’t want the 20 free games and they just want a check for $80. I think this was a very smart move on Nintendo’s part, because the Playstation Vita is priced for $250, and with the 3DS significantly less than the Vita I think it will sell much better than it. What do you think? Is 20 games a good deal for compensation? Do you think it was a good move for Nintendo to drop their price? (For more information, read the full article)

2. More Nintendo news coming your way today! Two highly anticipated games have finally been given official titles! Super Mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3DS have been given (slightly lackluster) titles! Super Mario 3DS will simply be called Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 3D will simply be called Mario Kart 7. I think these titles are pretty dumb, in my opinion. Nintendo has been coming up with pretty lame titles lately. Kirby Returns to Dreamland, and now these. Mario Kart 7? Really? I could think of a better name anytime! What about something less lame like maybe ‘Mario Kart 3D’ or something. It at least has some class to it...Super Mario 3D Land is an alright title, but it makes it sound like it’s a sequel to Super Mario Land for the Game Boy. What do you think? Are these titles lame, amazing or somewhere in between? (For more information, read the full article)

Preview: Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Superheroes are everywhere. Between the multiple blockbuster movies released every summer and the powerful momentum of comic books, society has recently acknowledged the significance of the superhero genre again, allowing the theme to completely blow up. The Avengers may be taking the spotlight in 2012, but Marvel has certainly not forgotten their other representatives like Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time, a new game developed by Beenox, features two incarnations of the titular hero, both of whom behave quite differently. While the original, "classic" Spider-Man, Peter Parker, is playable throughout the game, the futuristic Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O'hara, acts as his counterpart (For those who are unfamiliar, Spider-Man 2099 stars in his own line of comics which acts as a futuristic reimagining of the original series).

Spider-Man 2099 in his city of future Nueva York.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time focuses on both "Spider-Men" and their teamwork to prevent the Alchemax corporation from striking the world with its iron fist, which would imminently lead to a dark, dystopian future. A scientist goes into the past to help the Alchemax corporation develop at a much faster pace, killing Peter Parker in the process. Miguel O'Hara, a geneticist, becomes aware of the devastation that would ensue and goes into the past to save Parker from his demise. In order to prevent the grim future from occurring, O'Hara and Parker cooperate between different timelines, applying their abilities, strategy, and teamwork to every situation along the way.

Modern Spider-Man using his speed to confuse enemies.

In Edge of Time, Both incarnations of Spider-Man play similarly, yet have unique specialties in combat. Spider-Man 2099 is melee-oriented, equipped with a battle suit that allows him to fight similar to classic Spider-Man. Additionally, due to this suit, 2099 can both accelerate rapidly and zip around to confuse enemies. On the other hand, classic Spider-Man can use his webs to spin together weapons and grab enemies from afar. Reliant upon his web and speed, his "spider-sense" also gives him an edge when fighting a large number of opponents.

Arguably the most unique feature within Edge of Time is the cooperative actions that can take place between both versions of Spider-Man. For instance, Spider-Man 2099 would be facing a giant robot that he is incapable of taking down. However, classic Spider-Man may be within the factory that created the robot, able to demolish it before its construction is complete. Thus, Spider-Man 2099 can continue on with little trouble.

That situation may not be as hypothetical as I said.

Spider-Man Edge of Time comes out October 4 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, PC, DS, and 3DS.

Short Version: Due to the unique gameplay style, Spider-Man: Edge of Time promises to be an enjoyable and exciting experience. Anyone who likes Spider-Man will love this game.

VGM of the Day #15: Robo's Theme

Here it is, folks! The big one - issue number fifteen of SilverTrinity's VGM of the Day! Why such an odd number? Why fifteen? You know damn well why!

Ah, man. It seems like only yesterday that I...slacked off and didn't post this when I should have. Ho-hum.

I'm just happy that I've managed to not cRap out On myself and the Blog yet, being notoriously unmOtivated as I am. That being the case, it wasn't a haRd decisiOn to seLect one of the cheeriest songs of alL time for this momentous occasion, Robo's Theme from Chrono Trigger.

Undoubtedly Nobuo Uematsu has won the hearts of fans the world over with his works over the years. This would be one of those timeless gems of his, with its hard-hitting bass (get it? hard-hitting? because robo is overpowered? hah) and a catchy melody that will leave you humming it all day. Chrono Trigger really wouldn't be the same without it, and in a game with one of the most renowned soundtracks of all time, that speaks for itself. The track also sounds remarkably similar to a certain song which has in recent years grown immensely popular in the Youtube community and around the internet...but we're all aware of this.

Truly a work of art at the time, Chrono Trigger marked an occurence where three visionaries in the industry combined their efforts to make what is now one of the most critically acclaimed ever: the likes of executive producer Hironobu Sakaguchi, artwork and character designer Akira Toriyama, and none other than Nobuo Uematsu handling the music. I applaud their collective efforts on the second game they joined together for, Blue Dragon, but it never really got quite to the level of their previous endeavor. You can't just MAKE another Chrono Trigger. And you certainly can't replicate its music.

The Verdict: Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down...

Psychotic Informer - 7/27/11

1. Some more Skyward Sword news today (because what’s an Informer without Skyward Sword news). Officially announced today, Ganon will NOT be returning to the game. “The Triforce sort of takes on a different meaning and plays a different role in the story. So because of that, Ganon will not appear," said the Zelda series producer. Taking his place as the main villain is a new villain called Lord Ghirahim, who you can see above. Am I the one who thinks he looks sort of like a Zora? Either way, I would love to see Ganon back on my TV, and Ghirahim looks pretty sweet, but I’m hoping Ganon will be back and bigger than ever in Zelda Wii U! What do you think about this new villain? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

2. Here’s some news to make you realize how obsessed with games people are; a Chinese couple sold their children for money to play online games. Back in 2009, the couple sold their first child, their daughter, for $500 US dollars. Later on they sold their two newborn baby boys for $4,600 US dollars each! The couple was finally turned in by the wife’s mother. The couple actually didn’t know they were breaking the law! They said "We don't want to raise them, we just want to sell them for some money." What do you think about this story? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

3. Remember how outraged fans were when Capcom made Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D without the ability to erase save files? Could you imagine if that happened again? Well, of COURSE it has. Apparently Namco Bandai didn’t get the memo that everyone hates this feature and that it is ridiculous. Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions has this awful feature in it. The game was released on July 26th on 3DS  What do you think? Should companies stop implementing this stupid feature? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

4. Did you ever want a giant ape on your wall? Well, now is your chance! The new Club Nintendo rewards include the Donkey Kong poster set and a Giant Mii AR Card! The poster set includes three posters and is like the other poster sets that include Mario and Zelda. The poster set it 400 Club Nintendo points, which is 50 more than the Zelda and Mario posters. The AR card is available for a mere 200 points and is a giant AR card for the 3DS. It features the question box so you can take pictures with your Mii, and on the reverse side it has the Mario AR card. (For more information, read the full article)

Preview: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The future is everywhere around us. Cars are being developed that require no fuel. Prosthetic limbs are being designed that almost perfectly mimic a real limb. Machines are becoming more prevalent in our daily lives than ever before. In the Deus Ex series, our future is now.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a prequel to the series' original entry, focuses on five different "Pillars of Gameplay," consisting of combat, stealth, hacking, exploration, and socialization. While combat generally focuses on firearms, Adam, the protagonist, has biomechanical augmentations that give him superhuman abilities, all of which are usable in battle. Stealth plays out much like one would expect, as the player can sneak around an area and assassinate enemies without a trace, similar to the gameplay of Batman: Arkham Asylum and the Metal Gear Solid series. Hacking is used for several different purposes, ranging from manipulating a machine to lockpicking to access additional items. Exploration involves the player using the environment to his or her advantage, applying knowledge and memory to find the best routes available. Lastly, socialization focuses on interacting with various characters, gaining new information from these characters, and manipulating them to gain their allegiance. These five Pillars will segue into each other throughout the entirety of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, i.e. a conversation can lead to a fight if the "wrong" dialogue is chosen.

A hacked computer that gives access to multiple actions that can be used for great strategic advantage.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution takes place in 2027, 25 years prior to the first game. The story follows Adam Jensen, a security officer working for one of the leading manufacturers in human-enhancing devices. Upon getting critically wounded during an attack on his company, Adam is given multiple biomechanical upgrades that both save his life and enhance his strength beyond natural limitations. Both of Adam's arms have been replaced with biomechanical arms that can be used for a variety of actions that benefit him in combat, including weapon transformation and the previously mentioned boost of strength.

Adam Jensen after his augmentations.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution deals with the idea of "transhumanism," or transcending the limitations of a normal human through the new biomechanical augmentations that are being built. There are countless arguments regarding whether people should augment their abilities. Some crave them for power and convenience, while others believe it will lead to arrogance, cause more wars, and give a false sense of godhood.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released on August 23 in North America and on August 28 in Europe for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Short Version: Deus Ex: Human Revolution is shaping up to be a true successor to the previous two games, allowing for diversity in every playthrough, determined purely by the player's actions.

VGM of the Day #14: Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead)

Guilty Gear's a lot like that quiet kid in the back of class. All by himself, nobody really paying him any attention. Kinda creepy and mysterious at first, you don't know what to expect, but offer him a few words and he warms right up to you. The series has no doubt achieved cult hit status with its eccentric cast of characters, eye-popping visuals and off-the-wall combat, but that's not what we're here to discuss.

Daisuke Ishiwatari's always been a heavy rock/metal composer, and his work on this game is no exception, nor is it in this particular track serving as Ky Kiske's theme. A brief interlude precedes the guitar intro, and then finally cuts to the chase with the kind of production Ishiwatari is famous for; leave your bravado at the door, this track is put up or shut up. It's a great fit for the in-game chaos and moreover for the game itself, containing a myriad of rock and metal references throughout (there's a character named Slayer, just sayin').

While the Guilty Gear series might not be every gamer's cup of tea, there can certainly be no debate on the quality of its soundtrack. This is fightin' music at its finest, and production like this grows on a guy awfully fast.

The Verdict: It's a fighting game, right? Does a great job of making that perfectly clear.

Psychotic Informer - 7/24/11

1. First up is some Zelda news! Skyward Sword is changing the Zelda series by a lot (brand new style of graphics, a ton of new items, a new world, ect.), but here’s another new change! The new game is going to feature item upgrades, instead of the traditional method where you either find or buy an upgrade. You will be combining rupees and parts dropped from enemies to make a weapon upgrade (kind of like Monster Hunter in a way). The upgrades will apply to Link’s beetle weapon, his shield and other weapons, too! Do you think this is a good change? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information and a video, read the full article)

2. Next up is something I found pretty amusing because of my last post. I mentioned how Freddy Krueger was going to be added to Mortal Kombat 9 via DLC. After that I said “But now that we’re letting movie villains into the brawl, what about Jason?”. Well, they answered my question! "Over the years, we've certainly had a number of conversations about guest characters," said Ed Boon, co-founder of the MK series, “A number of names were run by us: Jason, Michael Meyers and all those guys. Freddy Kreuger, we felt, was the most instantly recognizable and he fits in with Mortal Kombat with his claws." What do you think? Is Freddy fit for this kind of role, or should some other slasher villain be in his place? Leave your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

3. Everyone, get your emails ready! According to Nintendo Majora’s Mask 3D will be made only if there is enough support from the fans! “I think certainly if there was a similar output of emotion and clamor [as there was for Ocarina of Time 3D] from fans for a remake of Majora's Mask, it wouldn't be an utter impossibility,” they said. So everybody go on the Nintendo website and email them your support! Or write them letters or something, however people communicate these days. Do you think Majora’s Mask should be made in 3D? Post your opinion in the comments! (For the full interview, click here)

VGM of the Day #13: Only a Plank Between One and Perdition

Been away for a while, whoopsie-daisy. I'd apologize but I quite enjoy my free time.

Much like my inevitable return to the field, this Nobuo Uematsu track marks the time to get one's ass and take action. Tension is rising from the impatient bassline and pulse-pounding percussion, and combined with the no-nonsense melody, this makes for one those edgy run-like-hell songs, and it's implemented to that effect in the game quite well.

Granted, pretty much every numbered entry in the Final Fantasy series has a track or two for occasions like this, but in my eyes, this one stands a cut above the rest. The fact that it's been years since I beat FF VIII and the only tidbits of the game I can vividly recollect contain this song speaks a lot. Especially since FF VIII was a fermenting pile of compost.

All in all, it's definitely one of the better tracks in what was not one of the better games in the series. It's a high-speed thrill ride that makes it clear; the time to dilly-dally is over, and the time to act is upon us.

Heh. Maybe I should take its advice and keep up with the blog.

The Verdict: Need something to study or do your homework to? Look elsewhere.

Psychotic Informer - 7/22/11

 1. Another 3D classic has finally arrived on the 3DS eShop! 3D Classics: Xevious is the new addition to the series of 3D remakes of other games (the first being Excitebike). A port of the 1982 classic arcade game Xevious, the game is fully 3D and it looks very cool. Obviously in the above image you cannot see the 3D, so if you want to see it you just have to go to the eShop on your 3DS and view the sample video. The game looks really cool, and it’s only $6, so you should buy it! Also coming out today is the new Nintendo Video where you can watch free 3D videos, so that will be pretty sweet. Go pick these new apps up today!

2. Do you live in the Los Angeles area and love Zelda? This next story is for you! The concert tickets for The Legend of Zelda Symphony Concert are available for the first concert on August 1st. The actual concert date will be on October 21st, with the full concert tour coming in 2012. "It's an event that fans and music aficionados won't want to miss." said the producer.  If this concert would happen to come anywhere near me, I would see it in a heartbeat. The tickets are pretty pricey, though. $30 for the arena seats, $150 for the front row. What do you think? Would you see this concert? Or is it too expensive for you? (For more information, read the full article)

3. When you think of Mortal Kombat, what do you think of? Maybe Raiden, Johnny Cage, or Sub-Zero? What about Freddy Krueger? Yes, you read that correctly. Freddy Krueger will be added to Mortal Kombat 9 via DLC. This is kind of weird, but I think it will be interesting. But now that we’re letting movie villains into the brawl, what about Jason? Maybe Dracula? Or how about Mechagodzilla? (For more information and a video, read the full article)

4. This isn’t much of a story as it is a favor to me. The other day I was talking about how Capcom canceled Mega Man Legends 3 and I was severely disappointed. Though this isn’t much, and it might not work, would you people with Facebook accounts please just take 5 seconds out of your day and click the ‘Like’ button on this page? The page aims to get 100,000 likes as a petition to bring back MML3. Please share the link with all of your friends! As of writing, the page has over 17,000 likes! So all you readers should go help out a good cause.

Preview: Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten

Japanese RPGs are known to require a large amount of "grinding" to reach the maximum level in game, leading to towering stats and effortless final boss battles. And then there's Disgaea.

Developed by Nippon Ichi Software, Disgaea is a series of tactical RPG games in which the player controls a party of characters and battles on a grid-like field, similar to games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Advance Wars. Yet, what makes this series recognizable is its approach to this familiar idea of grinding. Disgaea blows this commonality out of proportion, where characters can grow to level 9999 and damage can exceed a billion.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten follows the story of former vampire Valvatorez and his mission to dethrone the government of the Underworld, earning his place as the new Overlord. He recruits multiple members to his party throughout this quest, all of whom have their own unique personalities and methods of attack.

Disgaea 4 features several classes that found in many JRPGs, such as the warrior, mage, and ninja. Yet, original classes are also introduced, incuding the Masked Hero and Beast Master. Disgaea 4's enemies follow this trend, where familiar beasts such as dragons, orcs, and slimes can be spotted, alongside extravagant monsters like Prinnies, Alraune, and Cockatrices.

Disgaea 4's gameplay, of course, is what truly shines. Following a similar fashion to that of Final Fantasy Tactics, characters move once per turn on a square, grid map based on their speed and attack stats. Yet, Disgaea 4 brings a slew of unique properties and concepts to the genre. The Magichange system, for instance, allows players to "fuse" monsters on their team into a "Mega Monster," a significantly more powerful version of a normal monster. Additionally, this creation can be combined with a humanoid character, giving the character a "Mega Weapon" with properties that a normal weapon cannot possess. This result can be applied to an individual character twice, allowing for dual-wielding capabilities, which gives the character the ability to attack twice within one turn.

Disgaea 4 also introduces the Punishment System, which allows characters to propel enemies into the base area of the field and convert them into allies using the Coaching Classroom. It is possible to physically stack party members on top of each other, initiating a "Tower Attack," a familiar attack in the series. The Tower Attack throws enemies at increasingly higher levels with every character attacking the enemy at each level in the process. This attack continues until the predetermined height is eventually reached.

Disgaea 4 includes online support, allowing players to barge into each others' games via pirate ship. Players will be matched according to overall party size and rank, so a player that is level 4782, for example, cannot be matched with a player whose party is only level 1357 under any circumstance. Similar to Demon's Souls, the player can either aid the host in battle, or directly attack him, initiating a player-versus-player type of combat. Additionally, Disgaea 4 features a map creation tool that can be utilized to create and share custom maps through the game's online interface.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten is will be released on September 6 in North America on the Playstation 3. The European release will follow sometime in Q3 2011.

Short Version: Disgaea is a relatively insane take on the JRPG genre, bringing a chaotic battle system, a slew of new features, and a whole bunch of attitude along for the ride.

Psychotic Informer - 7/21/11

1. More awesome (and sad) news coming your way in this edition of Psychotic Informer! First up, breaking news! The Kirby game for the Wii that we have simply been calling ‘Kirby Wii’ finally has an actual name! The highly anticipated game is going to be called ‘Kirby Returns To Dreamland’. Based on the title, I am PUMPED for this game. Kirby can finally recover from the ‘half-a-Kirby’ game Epic Yarn! What do you think about this title? Do you think it sounds AWESOME like I do? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

2. There’s some more Phoenix Wright news for today; Phoenix is going to be a new character in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3! Other new characters are going to include: Hawkeye, Ghost Rider, Firebrand, and Strider! I don’t know about you, but I think ‘OBJECTION!’ is going to be the new Falcon Punch, don’t you think? (For more information, read the full article)

3. More sad news about the 3DS today. The highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy has been cancelled. It was cancelled way back in September of 2010. "It wasn't due to anything that took place. We felt the machine already had a number of hardcore games for its release," Said Ubisoft. By ‘hardcore games for its release’, you mean Nintendogs? Yes, that is totally hardcore. There has only been one really great title so far, in my opinion. I was honestly looking forward to this game. This is a very bad week for games. First Mega Man Legends 3, now this. I wonder what else will happen this week? Stay tuned and find out! What do you think about the cancellations this year? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

4. At this year's San Diego Comic Con, a new Zelda: Skyward Sword trailer has been released! It features a great view of the starting town of Skyloft and shows how Link begins his adventure! It also features several new enemies. And Gorons! The Gorons look kind of strange, in my opinion. I don’t really like the character design in this, but I am really excited for this game, and if you’re a Zelda fan, you should be too! Watch the new trailer and enjoy!

Preview: No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise

When the Wii was released, many people complained that motion controls were nothing more than a gimmick, being primarily catered for the "casual" audience. However, when games like Madworld were released, for instance, few copies were sold, giving developers little motivation to create a "mature" game for the Wii. Suda51's No More Heroes happened to have the same result, despite critical acclaim. Aiming to reach out to its intended audience, No More Heroes is currently being remade for the Playstation 3, utilizing the Playstation Move controller. However, this is no simple port -- No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise is a complete reimagining of the original.

No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise, like its "original" 2007 release, follows an Otaku Assassin named Travis Touchdown. By chance, he accidentally joins the United Assassins Association (UAA), becoming part of a ranked battle system in the town Santa Destroy. In order to court Sylvia Christel, the head of the UAA, Travis must fight his way to the top by killing the highest ten ranked assassins within the competition.

Heroes' Paradise's gameplay revolves around progressing through a level, killing a multitude of enemies with Travis' signature weapon, the "Beam Katana," which highly resembles that of a Lightsaber from the Star Wars universe. The combat is very simple; the speed and strength of an attack is determined by whether the Move Wand is held vertically up or down, yet, in every instance, only one button is used to execute an attack. When an enemy is near death, an arrow will appear on the screen. If the Move Wand is moved in that general direction, Travis will then assassinate the enemy, causing them to explode in a cloud of blood, leading to a roulette "mini-game." If the slots of the roulette all match up, the player will receive a power-up as a result. These power-ups range from an increase in speed to the ability to create an explosion, eradicating all nearby enemies in the process.

No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise introduces other new features and differing gameplay elements to not only add to the players' experience, but to improve the game's quality, abandoning its previous faults. For instance, Heroes' Paradise offers the ability to to collect and conserve three powers, allowing the player to use them whenever desired. Additionally, Travis can now punch and kick enemies to stun them, allowing him to grab them and perform a wrestling-inspired move on them. Similar to the roulette mini-game, arrows will appear on the screen, acting as a prompt to initiate the grab. To welcome the addition of the Move Wand, the katana has also received some alterations. In Heroes' Paradise, the katana now has limited battery that can only be recharged by shaking the Wand in a vertical motion. Yet, during this restoration process, Travis is completely exposed to attack, introducing a new strategy to the game the player must learn.

At the end of every level in Heroes' Paradise, a boss battle takes place in which Travis must fight an assassin of a higher rank. These bosses all have unique methods of attack and require a different approach by the player in order to be conquered. Between their vivid personalities and their colorful battle techniques, the ten bosses of Heroes' Paradise truly take the center stage of the game. In order to truly represent their significance, commencing a battle with these opponents is far from a simple task, as it takes both time and effort to achieve.

In Heroes' Paradise, the UAA requires money to organize these fights that must be collected and submitted by Travis. There are a number of jobs that Travis can do to earn money. These tasks are all mini-games and take little time to do, yet add a great deal of variety to the game. If the player happens to find these jobs tedious and frustrating, assassination missions are also available to the player, that reward money based on skill and execution. While the money that is earned from these options is intended to be spent on the main storyline of Heroes' Paradise, the player can choose to put these funds towards new clothes, katanas, or weapon upgrades.

Heroes' Paradise also adds a number of new features that were not available in either the original No More Heroes or its sequel. At certain points in the game, the player is given the option to battle five of the bosses from No More Heroes 2, yet still exclusively following the story of the first game. Giving the player a second chance to partake in these events, the bonus battles are also accessible from Travis' apartment through modes called "nightmares" and "dreams." Additionally, Heroes' Paradise features a Score Attack Mode that pits Travis against all 15 of the game's bosses to compete for a high score. Lastly, the new "Very Sweet" Mode allows players to view various female characters in rather seductive, risqué clothing.

Between the core elements of the original No More Heroes and its several newly introduced features, No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise certainly looks to appeal to its intended audience at long last, assuring to bring many of its previous fans along for the ride. Now including Playstation Move capabilities, previously controversial motion controls are not simply abandoned by Suda51; rather, they are improved upon, showing that the developers not only believe in this style of gameplay, but aim to show its true potential within the hopeful sensation Heroes' Paradise.

No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise will be released exclusively for the Playstaion 3 with Playstation Move support on August 16 in North America.

Short Version: No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise is a unique, quirky action game featuring attitude and pure entertainment. While the combat is simple, Heroes' Paradise is sure to please anyone who is just looking for some good, chaotic fun.

Psychotic Informer - 7/19/11

1. Do you remember the 2009 WiiWare title ‘Pokemon Rumble’? Well, it’s getting a sequel called ‘Pokemon Rumble Blast’! To be released on October 24th of this year on the 3DS, the game will include toy versions of over 600 of your favorite Pokemon. The game will also use Streetpass to engage in automatic Pokemon battles, and you can play the story mode in multiplayer with local wireless connection. Are you excited for another Pokemon Rumble game? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

2. Ever since the Virtual Boy failed, game companies had given up on virtual reality. However, that time is over! According to an interview, Sony has been recently working on several virtual reality games using the goggles in the image above. Personally, I think that this has a lot of potential. It’s been many years since the Virtual Boy came out and now it’s time for more! What Sony games would you like to see in Virtual Reality? I think I would really like to see Infamous in VR. What do you think? Post your opinions in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

3. Goldeneye 007 is getting yet ANOTHER remake. Though it was just remade for the Wii last year, Activision is making a new version for the 360 and PS3 called Goldeneye: Reloaded. I think this sounds pretty cool, but I think it should be released on PC, also. It has amazing multiplayer so I bet a lot of people would buy a PC version of this game. What do you think about ANOTHER Remake of Goldeneye? Post your opinions in the comments! For more information, read the full article)

4. Sad news today for Mega Man fans. The highly anticipated game ‘Mega Man Legends 3’ has been cancelled. According to Capcom, “It had not met the required criteria.” That’s two Mega Man games that have been cancelled this year, the other being the XBLA title Mega Man Universe which I was very much looking forward too. What do you think about this? Is the Mega Man series coming to an end? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

Psychotic Informer - 7/17/11

 1. Is your internet so slow that you cannot download Steam games at a reasonable rate? Well, with a new Steam update, you can! The new Steam update will change the way files are transferred, now using an HTTP delivery system. You don’t have to know what that means, but it’s better than what is currently offered now. Also in the update will include a change to in-game updates. Before, Steam replaced most of the content files when it updated the game, but now they have found a way to only change the files they need to change, removing all the extra time it would take to replace an entire directory of files. I, for one am happy about this, because I like to play my games when I want to play my games, not clicking play then have to wait a minute to play while it updates. What do you think about this change? (For more information, read the full article)

2.  Batman fans, rejoice! With Batman: Arkham City releasing in October of this year, the Collector’s Edition news has come out in full detail. Priced at $99 (the Arkham Asylum CE was only $79), the pack will include a ‘premium statue’, an art book, animated material and you get to play the DLC early! How does this sound for a collector’s edition? Would you buy this collector’s edition for the $40 more it costs compared to the standalone game? Post your opinion in the comments! (For more information, read the full article)

3. Since I mention Theatrhythm Final Fantasy every other article it seems, it’s only fitting to tell more details that were just released about the game. The game will feature over 50 songs, including three from every Final Fantasy game from I-XIII. We loosely know about the story, now, though. It says that the force of rhythm is in trouble and only past members of Final Fantasy games can put it back in order. That’s all we know so far, but the story sounds kind of ridiculous from what we know now. What do you think about these new details? (For more information, read the full article)

1.  Big news today for you Phoenix Wright fans! The Phoenix Wright movie has been confirmed! The movie which will be hitting Japanese cinemas next Spring has not been confirmed for localisation anywhere else yet, but we’re sure it will be released on the internet with subtitles for us all to love. Check out pictures and more here. Do you think this movie looks cool? Do you think they chose good actors for the roles? Post your opinion in the comments!

2. Do you like dancing? Many of us do. According to consumer sales, a LOT of people do. Today, Just Dance 2 became the best selling third party Wii game ever with 14 million copies sold! It has sold more copies than even some Mario games. That’s kind of crazy. I actually have Just Dance 2, and I think it’s pretty sweet, so in my opinion, it deserves the title. (For more information, read the full article)

3. Is your regular alarm clock just not cutting it for you anymore? Do you need something more superior to wake you up in the morning? Do you like guns? If you answered all those questions with yes, the “Bandai Gun o'Clock” is for you! Though this is a gaming news series, it’s always fun to talk about something else for a change. The “Gun o'Clock” is a regular alarm clock with a bulls-eye on the top. When it wakes you up in the morning the bulls-eye pops up and you grab the included plastic gun and shoot at the target! Once you successfully shoot the target, the bulls-eye will go back down again and the alarm will stop. Would you get one of these? Post your opinion in the comments. I don’t know about you, but to me, this sounds really cool for gamers and/or assassins. Pick up your own “Bandai Gun o'Clock” here for $70!
